Same quality as in the BBQ7, which I really liked.
The Wifi Sub- 1g Wireless Meat Thermometer is a great aide when cooking cuts of meat. The phone app is very handy and has features I did not expect. The probe has 6 points that reads the temp and if you use the Pro setting in the app, it shows each point. The probe must be inserted far enough into the meat (7.5 cm) to cover the 5 points that are in the metallic part of the probe, the 6th sensor is in the enlarged end of the probe and reports the ambient temperature in the oven or grill. I used it when grilling a NY Strip Steak. I used the preset in the app to set the temperature of my choice of doneness. I could watch the instantaneous temperatures from the edges to the center of the meat. The app uses the lowest reading to report the cook being done. Then it alerted me it was done.To be honest, I first received the BBQ7 and throughly evaluated it, so I used the 1st paragraph of my review on this review as the units are functionally identical. There is more information there.amazon.com/dp/B0FVM29KVH?th=1)I now have the BBQ10 to evaluate. The only difference I have found is in the appearance of the booster. The BBQ7 is in portrait orientation while the BBQ10 is in landscape orientation. The back of the 10 is white. The information displayed is identical. The probe on the BBQ10 is stored on the front while on the BBQ7 the probe is on the back. The probes themselves are identical and could easily get confusted if both are out of theyir bases. Heat one up in your hand to see which base it belongs to.The BBQOVN app easily handled both units simutaneouisly. However when I first attempted the test in the picture, both bases were reading the same probe. No idea how or why. On the BBQ10, I docked its probe and hit the reset button and now they are separate again. These are not the fastest reading probes if not inserted into something. 10 minutes in the fridge and they are still dropping. The Ambient is the slowest, not surprising given the shell it is in. Ambient should not change that much anyway..

This is a review of a £49 wireless meat thermometer. With the caveat that I have only used it properly once, I am very impressed with it. The only slight drawback is that the instructions are printed in quite small type, but they are readable. The unit is about the size of a small phone. The probe itself sits in a charging groove so it should be ready whenever you need it; there there is a set of buttons above it, and a screen above them. There are two ways to set the unit up; one using an app that you download to your phone and one without. I am not keen on installing apps unless I need to, and this worked straight out of the box without. Apparently it uses the house wifi, but I didn’t need to pair it. Switching it to centigrade and setting a target temperature were both straightforward and intuitive. There is a set of pictures showing you the one correct and several wrong ways to insert the probe into the meat – the key point is that it needs to be inside the meat right up to the shoulder of the probe. As soon as you take it out of its slot it fires up the screen of the unit and shows room temperature, then drops quickly as you push it into chilled meat. In the oven it worked perfectly, transmitting the temperature to the base unit in the next room and sounding a polite beeping alarm once it reached the set temperature. It is not cheap, but it does seem to be a very good product and saves you having to keep taking the meat out to test it with a handheld thermometer. Provided it lasts it will be well worth the investment.

Sometimes, you find a gizmo or a “new device” that seems to be a great idea, but after you start using it, you are dissatisfied for different reasons. Sometimes, because they don’t solve any problems or issues, or they just don’t work. Not so with the BBQOVN BtcLink. This device is simply amazing! As a lot of us know, the best way to measure the “doneness” of meats, is to measure the internal temperature. Some higher level ovens now have temperature probes that perform the same function. Sort of. And then, of course, you have your BBQ. I know of no BBQ that has any technology like this…The BBQ10 is elegant in design and simple to use. There is a very colourful, feature rich app that you can download, that contains a lot of information and abilities. But you don’t need it, if you don’t want to. The beauty of the BBQ10, is that it is fully functional all on its own. Leave can leave your phone alone.I find this very important, due to privacy concerns. I don’t know if everyone ever reads some of the “contracts” you enter into, by downloading an app. Some of them – not here – but some of them, allow the company to go through your contacts, photos, emails, etc. That’s scary stuff! Good on BtcLink making a great device that does not necessarily need an app to control it.Sometimes, cooking can be tricky. Meats a bit thicker than your normally buy, a larger turkey or some meant you have never tried – venison for example. The BBQ10 takes the guess work out of achieving the perfect results!Bottom lIne – This device works and works great! Simple and easy to use. Even for the experienced chef!

I ordered the BBQ10 Smart wireless meat thermometer as I needed a meat thermometer that didn’t have a cord attached to it.The thermometer set is comprised of a Booster, Probe and a USB-C charging cord. There is also a detailed instruction manual. I found the print and diagrams very small and hard to see. There is the option of downloading an APP for your phone to use with the booster and the probe.I did not do this as I find its one more thing to have on my counter when I am cooking. The product description for this meat thermometer indicates it is powered by one AAA battery. It actually has an internal rechargeable battery.I prefer having the rechargeable battery so I don’t have to be concerned about having replaceable batteries on hand. The booster is the main body of the system. This is the part charged by the USB-C cord. The control buttons are clearly marked and easy to use.The screen is very easy to see and clearly indicates the temperature of meat before you cook, the increase in temp as you are cooking and the end temperature. The probe is charged by placing it in the booster. On the booster screen it clearly indicates the charge of both the booster and probe.I cooked pork chops on my stove top and was very impressed at how I could see the temperature change on the Booster during the cooking process. The instructions indicate to make sure the probe is inserted properly in the meat and to not let the plastic end touch the pan or open flame. This was a bit of a challenge for me as my pork chops were just big enough for the probe to fit in them and I had to watch that the plastic end didn’t end up touching the bottom of the pan.I am pleased that the booster screen is well laid out and I can clearly see the information I need when cooking at a glance.A well designed meat thermometer.

Initially I wanted this smart wireless meat thermometer to help with barbecuing, however it is a great addition to the kitchen utensils.Simple to charge and set up. The wireless probe sits in a slot on the base which is about the size of a mobile phone.I have used this without the mobile phone app to date but might explore using that in future.Using it is simple enough and having it gives the confidence to know the meat is cooked sufficiently without giving it that extra ten minutes. This means a side effect of using the thermometer could be a saving on power. It’s not really barbecuing weather here at the moment but I’m looking forward to that in the knowledge I will be able to provide the feast without any chance of the food poisoning. The build quality looks good, as does the unit design. Now we have it I wish I’d had one much sooner.

We have a wired meat thermometer that we’ve come to rely on, but this wireless version offers a significant upgrade. With the new one, there’s no need for a wire through the oven door and I can carry the my phone (with app) around the house and garden with me.The BBQOVN app offers guidance on temperatures for a range of meats and degrees of done-ness, but it’s a shame the guidance isn’t replicated on the base unit. The app isn’t the best of its type (I’ve tried several) but it’s functional enough. It’s annoying that they try and get you to create an account with a company in China – for a thermometer! I used it as a ‘guest’ instead. The thermometer works well and I won’t be reverting to my wired version any time soon, but I feel there may be better options out there.
